Ripago Underground Mining Services is solely run and managed by Richard Gorzkos in Perth, Western Australia, a mining engineer whose career has predominantly been working in the underground contracting mining sector. He has gained operational, management and bid estimation skills by working for major underground mining contractors, is the holder of a WA First Class Certificate of Competency and is a member of the AusImm.

Mining Engineer/ Sole Director
Richard is a qualified mining engineer from Sydney University and the Founder and Managing Director of Ripago Underground Mining Services Pty Ltd.
Prior to forming his consultancy company, Richard spent 20 years working for underground mining contractors including Costain Pearson Bridge (which eventually morphed into Redpath), Eltin Mining, Henry Walker Eltin, Minepro and Byrnecut Mining. His experience ranged from working underground to project management and underground estimating and tendering roles.
As a mining engineer consulting to mine owners, contractors and consultants, his in-depth knowledge and expertise in underground contract mining enable the provision of detailed and reliable cost estimates, tender and contract documentation, and tender/bid estimates.
Working primarily with junior mining companies, Richard is known for providing personalised service and niched advice. He works in collaboration with the engineers to develop cost insights and assists mine owners to set goals to accomplish an outcome that results in cost estimates, tenders and mining contracts being realistic, achieving value for money and minimising risk.
Richard believes in real costs and reliable information: the importance of considering first principles when estimating costs – because the real work happens underground where individual cost components are generated. As an independent adviser, he provides insight into cost differences among tenders to help the client make the right choice, prepares detailed draft tender and contract documents to minimise legal fees, and smooths the process between client and contractor.
